This year’s Medieval Fayre saw over 8,000 attendees enjoy a weekend full of jousting, market stalls, music, living history encampments and historical talks.
The awards ceremony, celebrating excellence in tourism across the region, took place on the 30th November 2023 at the Bristol Hotel.
Brad Lister, Glastonbury Abbey’s Head of Commercial Activity, said:
“The abbey team, its suppliers and all of the participants at the Glastonbury Abbey Medieval Fayre work tirelessly to create a memorable event for visitors year after year. To receive a Gold award is wonderful recognition of that effort and the whole team should be very proud.”
Glastonbury Abbey Medieval Fayre has previously been awarded the Silver award in 2019 and the Bronze award in 2022. It was also nominated for the Event of the Year award by the National Outdoor Events Association this year.
As a Gold award winner Glastonbury Abbey Medieval Fayre will now be considered for the broader South West Tourism Excellence Awards, to be presented at Exeter University in March 2024.
The Glastonbury Abbey Medieval Fayre will return on the 27th and 28th of April 2024 for its biggest year yet, with more stalls, more activities, and more fun for all the family in store. Discounted advance tickets are now on sale, with free tickets available for PLUS Members (valid membership card required).
